ADMINISTRATIVE TRIBUNALS: WHETHER BOUND BY DECISIONS OF SUPREME COURT AND HIGH COURTS
Keywords:

Administrative tribunals play a vital role in delivering specialized and speedy justice in India. However, their position within the judicial framework creates an important question regarding their duty to comply with the decisions of constitutional courts, especially the Apex court of India and the High Courts. This paper examines the constitutional provisions, statutory structure, and major judicial pronouncements governing the applicability of precedents to tribunals. It concludes that tribunals are obligated to follow the judgments of the Supreme Court and continue to remain under the supervisory jurisdiction of the High Courts, thereby preserving consistency and uniformity within the legal system.
